The first round of the NBA Playoffs is underway and the results have begun to unfold. The NBA Playoff betting landscape has already changed quite a bit and NBA Finals odds have been moving around as a reaction to the early wins and losses. The biggest news of the 2022 NBA Playoffs to this point has been the injury to Dallas Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic, who has missed the early part of the first round against the Utah Jazz while the team has fallen behind as a result. The Jazz opened as just small favorites over the Mavericks but are now one of the largest series favorites across the league, though the top of the Western Conference remains steady with the Phoenix Suns still priced well ahead of the pack.
The Eastern Conference has been more predictable so far with all four favorites winning their opening games, although the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets went down to the wire in Game 1 with Jayson Tatum capping off a one-point victory with a layup at the buzzer. Celtics vs. Nets figures to be among the most entertaining first round matchups and the Celtics have rallied all the way back from midseason longshots to move into the number two slot in the Eastern Conference behind the currently favored Milwaukee Bucks. In terms of NBA Finals odds the Suns are the overall favorites with the Bucks in second, the Golden State Warriors in third, the Celtics in fourth and the Miami Heat in fifth.
