2021 NFL Week 2 Odds and Betting

The full schedule of NFL Week 2 lines looks a little different than that of Week 1, where many games had short lines and an expectation of close games. The Week 2 odds appear to be more lopsided across the board, with more matchups between top-tier and bottom-tier teams. Week 1 didn’t have a single point spread that reached double-digits, but the Week 2 lines have opened with three of them, as the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Green Bay Packers are all favored by more than 10. On the opposite side, there are almost no games with a point spread of less than three. The two highest-profile games for Week 2 are probably the Buffalo Bills at the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs at the Baltimore Ravens, but even for those, the road team is favored by more than a field goal as of the early part of the week.

The NFL Week 2 odds started to change as early as Monday night, with some notable line movement taking place after the Las Vegas Raiders' upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders had opened at +6 for Week 2’s game in Pittsburgh, but moved to +5 after their impressive win while the opposite occurred for the Ravens for their upcoming game. The Ravens were +3 for Week 2’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Chiefs, but the line has increased to 3.5 after the Ravens’ disappointing loss.

There are a few relevant injuries leading into Week 2 and a few especially relevant outcomes on the scoreboard from Week 1, but overall, the futures outlook across the league hasn’t changed to an overly significant extent. Patrick Mahomes is still the favorite for NFL MVP and the Kansas City Chiefs are still the Super Bowl favorites after their home victory over the Browns, but the gap has narrowed in terms of the odds for a couple of division races. With the Ravens losing to the Raiders, the Browns are now the AFC North favorites, while the Pittsburgh Steelers made up some ground too with a road win in Buffalo. The Bills are still favored in the AFC East, but the Dolphins odds are closing in on them after beating the New England Patriots. In both the AFC and NFC West divisions, wins by all four teams have kept the odds mostly in the same place they were before the season started.
